Over the last two decades, the SEC has met with officials from both the police force and the prison service on occasion to discuss a range of issues relating to the incarceration of Sikhs. This has ranged from occasional cases where a Sikh has been arrested to procuring appropriate teaching resources about Sikhi.
A small number of prisoners in the UK are Sikhs, from a Sikh background or are simply interested in learning more about the Sikh way of life. In these situations we are happy to be called upon to assist in whichever way we can. In particular, the SEC has in recent years sourced appropriate reading material pertaining to the Sikh way of life for the prison service and we are happy to do so on an individual case by case basis upon request.
The SEC is happy to provide consultation to the police force, prison service and judicial system in matters pertaining to prisoners who are Sikh or involved in a crime against Sikh individuals or institutions. In some cases, the Metropolitan Police Sikh Association might be better suited to dealing with your query.
