The Sikh Education Council has engaged in many projects since the early 1980s including the release of educational publications, advisory consultation for social/community orgs, summer youth camps and numerous academic conferences. A brief summary of projects that we have engaged in follows; please contact us if you require further information about any of these projects.
Gurmat Camps 1985 - 1994
Our work in gurmat summer camps provided a religious experience for a generation of young people across the UK, reinforcing understanding of the Sikh way of life. Campers were given a sense of belonging, an awareness of Sikh heritage and a feeling as to Sikh identity. The Gurmat camps were occasionally held in collaboration with other institutions such as the Sikh Missionary Society and regional Gurdwara establishments.
